Michael Smith Engineers Ltd was formed in 1971 as a specialist pump distributor. With an average length of service in the organisation of over 15 years, they can call on broad experience to solve difficult applications and pumping problems. MICHAEL SMITH ENGINEERS have been accredited to ISO 9000 by NQA Ltd since 1994. The main markets serviced with their larger pumps are the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and process sector, smaller pumps service the laboratories, research and development institutions. Michael Smith Engineers only promote products for which they have been appointed as distributors and currently hold around £200,000 in stock of pumps and parts.
Michael Smith Engineers specialises in sealless leak-free products and offers magnetically driven gear pumps, magnetically driven centrifugal pumps (including metal, plastic and lined centrifugals), peristaltic pumps, tubular diaphragm pumps, valveless piston pumps, high pressure diaphragm pumps, and barrel emptying pumps.
Michael Smith Engineers can supply pumps in a wide choice of wetted materials for liquids between 0.2 cP and 500,000 cP, temperatures between -50o C and +400o C, capacities from nanolitres per hour to m3 per minute, and they can offer pumps for high system pressures up to 350 Bar and high discharge pressures up to 500 Bar. They are also able to pump liquids with up to 60% solid content, depending on the nature of the solids and the specific duty details. Self-priming pumps are available for suction lifts up to 7.5 metres.
Depending on the duty requirements, Michael Smith Engineers can offer pumps that have a low shear action, have a smooth flow, or can be run dry. Many corrosion resistant materials are available including metallic options of stainless steel and high nickel alloys or plastic options of PVC, polypropylene, PVDF and ETFE.
Michael Smith Engineers has experience in pumping many hard to handle liquids including acids, bases, organic liquids, solvents, inorganic liquids, slurries, volatile liquids, corrosives, abrasive liquids, non-lubricating liquids, liquids with entrained gases and flammable liquids.
Michael Smith Engineers is able to provide a wide choice of drive options for the various ranges represented including single phase and three phase motors, inverter control, DC motors, air motors, ATEX approved drives and manual and automatic variable speed units.
As well as supplying a complete array of specialist pumps and drives, they also offer a comprehensive selection of accessories including filters, relief and loading valves, flow meters and tubing to complement the different types of pumps.
Michael Smith Engineers’ workshops in Woking are fully equipped for assembly, repair and testing of pump ranges, and they also offer on-site consultation, trouble-shooting, commissioning and service.
